But I brought a little bit of the past back in the new year, but I did it safely and with no shameful baggage.
Last year (that's definitely going to take some use to saying since it was only a week ago), I was in three Secret Santa pulls. One of them was with these ladies I had the pleasure of growing up with for the past 15 years (maybe even more than).
After spending years and years of weekends, sleepovers, parties, and vacations together, the recent and previous years have been spent apart from each other. Something called getting older and growing up?? Yeesh.
So we met up at Nordstrom's Cafe for dinner and pulled names out of a beanie for Secret Santa. Another thing about getting older is having responsibilities and bills, bills, bills and food and water and shelter and blah blah blah blah. You know, the frighteningly important stuff that you used to laugh off before, but now cry about because you're in the real world now...where people stop being polite and start getting real.
They also knew me well because they had a feeling I would ruin this Secret Santa by messing everyone up and telling them someone I didn't have, just to throw them off and figure out who everyone has. Well, I didn't do that this year because I already knew who everyone had, the second after we all pulled names. So I ruined that.
We met up last week and had a nice, little lunch at my house and exchanged presents.
Madeleine had Giselle, I had Madeleine, Giselle had Bea, and Bea had ME
Annnd, we've decided to do a monthly hangout at each others' houses and cook and be silly and little girls all over again.
Can't wait for the onesie-breakfast-party next month!
