Saturday was my older sister's birthday and we started the day at the kinda secret/kinda not Toms warehouse sale! We heard stories about how long the wait is and how you are timed to shop once you're in, so we tried to prepare ourselves.
Everyone was right, it was madness.
Luckily, we got there a little after 9 and they opened at 10, so we didn't have to wait too long and we ended up being the first group to go! You only get 45 minutes to pick which shoesies you want and you think to yourself..."Um, that's definitely more than enough time!"
Actually, it might not be.
You see, when they're selling Toms for $10-35, you tend to go a little cray. Like, seriously. You think about upcoming birthdays, holidays, and of course, some nice shoes for yourself!
Not too mention, the pressure! It seems like 45 minutes is a long time, but you have to remember that you are going through tubs and tubs of shoes, and you want to make sure it's all the right sizes and not two lefts or two rights. And then, there's always that one shoe that you end up falling in love with, but there's always a BUT. I saw these suuuuper cute "botas," but they ran a little small and I rummaged through so many buckets to find them in another size, but couldn't.
I think you can guess what face I want to put on here.
Anyway, it still turned out pretty successful, especially for my college kid budget!
When we were leaving, we saw two food trucks, but really wanted to get out of the madness so we didn't get to try them. You know what's pho-king awesome? A pho truck.
The next day was Father's Day and what kind of person would I be if I didn't do a father appreciation post? Even if it is late... :D
Allls I have to say is that I've got the greatest dad. He is seriously a walking textbook. Ask him a question, anything! I can almost guarantee that he'll have an answer, probably the right answer...and probably with an actual lecture on the whole thing. Also, this guy never ages. Seriously, if you look at pictures from way back and now...he looks the same! Which, is probably where I get it from. Hashtagforeverlookinglikeimtwelve
I like to think that I got my love for reading from him by how much he reads and loves to learn. Our house was constantly filled with books and the books needed to be read! The amount of information my dad can keep in his memory is really remarkable. Sooo, I guess I can forgive when he forgets some of the little things, since he's trying to retain so much information that some of it just doesn't stay..like having to introduce himself to my friends, even though he has only done the same introduction to them twice before..? Haha. It might be weird to say, but my favorite story that I used to ask my dad to tell me all the time isn't a fairytale. In fact, I probably wouldn't recommend telling it to children under the age of 12. But, when I first saw the movie "Anastasia," I loved it so much, and I was so incredibly mind blown when my dad told me it was based on a true story. So, if there's any story that I get so fascinated hearing about time after time, it's that one--well, the true story.
To conclude my father appreciation post, I am very thankful to have a dad that inspires me to learn new things, read more stories, appreciate history, will go to the ends of the earth to make our family happy, and most importantly, brings me doughnuts. Because, we all know how much I love me some doughnuts.
I hope everyone had a great Father's Day/Parent Appreciation Day!
As for Monday, I spent the day with my dear old friend, Bea. We grew up together since we were 4 and we are now reaching the age where the lines of irresponsibility and responsibility can't be so blurred.
After a day of talking up the future and reminiscing on the good ol' days, we ended the night right with some SUUSHHIII!!
Until, next time :)
